This past weekend marked 3 months of my keto journey, and I’ll be honest, it hasn’t been great this month.
When I started this journey back in December my goal was to get back to feeling good again. Weightloss was the last thing on my mind. I have shared my “why” in my original post, first month results, and second month results.
After succeeding the first two months, I started to wonder if adding back in some healthy carbs would be acceptable.
I really wanted to add back in fruit, carrots, and potatoes. You know the “healthy” carbs that I know are natural, unprocessed and are grown.
I read on a Keto blog that you should eat anything that is born, grown, or hatched. This got me thinking that I could slowly add in some more natural foods that, of course, include carbs again.

My Keto Results – Month 3
Weight
When I started this journey, losing weight was the last reason I was starting. I honestly just wanted to feel better and not feel like death everyday from what I was consuming.
Even so, I was able to lost 14 pounds – most of that I have assumed was water weight and bloat.
This month, as I mentioned above, I was experimenting with adding back in healthy carbs. I ate a lot of carrots, apples, a couple bananas, even brown rice. It was all so good and I was surprisingly never sick from any of it.
The one thing that I was most surprised about was that my weight did not fluctuate much at all. I was consuming carbs, so definitely was not in ketosis but was not gaining. Sounds good, right?
House Projects
If you missed it, we have been working on house projects the last two weeks or so and have not made very many “keto friendly” meals. I mean we hardly had time to even eat, let alone make anything healthy.
Yes, you can blame it on the poor planning, but I would say the house projects, 6 kids, and animals, I didn’t feel like cooking either!
So, we had pizza one night, Chinese another, and yep, McDonalds another. Was I sick every day from it? Yep.
I have been super sluggish, the “free” feeling I was feeling with not getting sick after eating is totally gone and I feel so awful.
I honestly feel like I am back to square one with out having 10 plus pounds of bloat on me.
Where Do I Go From Here?
As of now, I don’t think I am going back to strict keto the way I was. We are starting to plan our garden, and I do want to be able to enjoy everything that I we grow.
I mentioned above, that I read from a keto blog that you should stick to foods that are “born, grown, or hatched” and I think this is what I am going to do.
Not full keto so I am not worried about kicking myself out of ketosis if I decide to have an apple or carrots. But definitely staying low carb is going to help me.
I am also staying far away from sugar and fast food.
I have talked before about having a sugar intolerance and addiction and my stomach is still messed up from sharing a milkshake with hubs. Ugh.
I think it is safe to say, that from here on out, it is only food that is born, grown, or hatched.
Also, anything from my Keto Krate because everything is also so dang good and having Kiss My Keto chocolate is life savor when I want something sweet but not feel sluggish afterwards.
I’ll be sure to update how my journey is going with getting back to a healthier me and just feeling better overall.
Until next time,
