I have another little crafty, homemade gift idea for you – Rosemary and Orange Infused Olive Oil! Yum!!!

I saw the idea to make an infused oil on Pinterest, so I created my very own. Now, I have to wait 4-6 weeks to even use it if I want to have the full benefits of the flavors, but that’s perfect timing to make this gift now before Christmas!

Growing up we had a friend in the neighborhood whose mom kept a bottle of what looked like tomatoes, lemons, and a bunch of seasonings in oil on the counter. I always wondered why someone would pay for something like this, but also why it was wasted to just sit on the counter. For what? To look pretty?

Well, now that I’m an adult, I can see why this was a decoration and/or used for cooking! The beauty of fruit, vegetables, and seasonings floating in oil is just the most beautiful thing! Not to mention, the flavors that are made the longer it sits! Yum!

I recently harvested and dried all of my herbs when I cleaned out my garden bed and man do I love the look of herbs hanging to dry! So dreamy! Anyway! I was looking for more ways to use up what I harvested and came across infusing oils! I also made this sugar scrub with my lavender and essential oils.

I love a good easy DIY recipe and this one I just had to share. The simplicity and beauty alone was enough for me to share.

What You Need

16 oz mason jar with lid

Orange peel – I used Clementines

Fresh or Dried Rosemary

Roughly 2 cups Olive Oil

What To Do

Put all ingredients into mason jar, place lid on top, shake to mix, and let sit for 4-6 weeks for flavor to set in.

When ready to use, you can strain the oil into another jar, removing the rosemary and orange peels.

How To Use

You can use this oil just as you would use a plain olive oil. I think this would be amazing with some fresh summer veggies, or rubbed on chicken and then roasted in the oven.

Based on your personal preference, I think these flavors combined would be so delicious on really anything!

Options

As most of what I share, this oil is super customizable. Again, it’s all based on your personal preference, but if there are certain seasoning that you find yourself consistently using, try infusing in some oil! For example, you can try roasted red peppers and garlic, or even lemon and thyme.

Even if we have to wait a few weeks to use this oil, it will double as a beautiful decoration in the kitchen. Wrap some twine around the jar and it’s the perfect gift that keeps on giving!

If you use this recipe, let me know in the comments how you customized it to your liking!

Until next time,
