As a stay at home mom for the past 6 years, I have tried what seems like everything to keep my kiddos entertained throughout the years.

Being a stay at home mom, I am usually left with all the kids by myself, making it a bit tricky to let the kids just go nuts when there is only one of me and six of them.

With that being said, today, I am going to share some of my favorite toys and activities that I love to help keep my kiddos entertained while dad is at work.

Toys and Activities to Entertain Your Kiddos

While this list is in no particular order, I will only be sharing what I really feel are true picks. These toys and activities are ideas that I have used since I became a stay at home mom over six years ago.

Anything And EVERYTHING Crafting

I’m sure just like yours, my kids love to color and craft!

Recently, 4 out of 6 of the kids are loving to color and craft and it’s quickly becoming a daily pass time.

Personally, I love all things Crayola!

Toys and Activities at Crayola

For your older crafty kiddos, I recommend this craft set from Amazon.

My son got this set for Christmas and it had everything imaginable in it. Now, I do recommend this set for older kids or ones that understand not to put small pieces in their mouths.

Get Outside!

Now, I guess this is weather dependent, but our kids LOVE being outside!

It doesn’t matter if its below zero or a hundred degrees, out kids love being outside.

Now that most of our kids are a bit older, I can’t wait for summer to get here so we can actually enjoy the outdoors and not worry about little ones not being able to keep up!

I do, however, plan on using this play pen for the twins when I am outside alone with all the kiddos.

Obstacle courses

My kids LOVE to do obstacle courses in the backyard, and we have been doing this since they started walking.

We will make up random obstacles in the backyard and the kids will race. We usually incorporate whatever toys they have out or make them jump up on the trampoline , jump down, and run back.

It’s so much fun! It keeps them busy forever AND it tires them out! Win win!

Now, in no particular order here are some of our FAVORITE toys and activities for outside!

Board Games

A few years ago we chose to start a tradition to get our kids each a board game for Christmas. It was one of the best decisions we made for Christmas gifts.

This past Christmas, ya know, 2020 with all its craziness.

We spent the entire day just enjoying each other at home and play board games from breakfast until dinner. It was so, so, so, so, soooo nice!

Truly, it was probably my FAVORITE Christmas of my entire life.

Anyway, here’s our list of board games!

Legos, Legos, and More Legos

My kids can’t get enough Legos! They could play for hours and hour and never get bored!

Video Games

Okay, so when I first became a parent, I refused video games. I was not going to allow my kids to have video games in any form.

Well, things changed and we opted for a Nintendo Switch for our kids.

Now, I am very strict about what they are allowed to play and for how long.

So far, we only have two games and I believe that is just fine for their ages. Plus, it is a fun alternative to board games on family game nights.

Again, the video games are only a once in while thing or family game nights. I don’t recommend video games for kids to sit on all day and night.

Miscellaneous Fun

These toys I wasn’t too sure how to categorize them but wanted to add them to the list anyway because our kids love to play with them!

So, there you have it, our picks for toys and activities for our kiddos.

Hopefully you found some cool toys your kiddos may enjoy!

Until next time,

Amy
